about

Available as CD/LP/DL

Damata is a guitar trio, few can argue with this. The name comes from a meaningless word from a Norwegian dialect with the function of finishing sentences, though not contributing to any sort of meaning. Could you say the same about the music? Hopefully not. With a Bigfoot in improvisation the members take their own references into quite simplistic compositions inspired by American Jazz before Norway voted against joining the EU, Nordic Jazz after Norway joined NATO, Classical Music after Norway separated Sweden, and other genres like Hip-Hop, Electronica, Ambient and other genres one doesn’t really have a proper education in yet. It’s through this that Damata tries to transcend the guitar trio format, contributing to any meaning inhabiting the listener.
